Hong Kong Market Open: Hang Seng Index Rises 0.50% as Optics Stocks Rally, CATL Slides Over 2%

Hong Kong stocks opened higher on September 16, with the Hang Seng Index climbing 0.50% to 24,789.91 points. The Hang Seng Tech Index advanced 0.47% to 4,311.70 points, while the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index gained 0.45% to 8,241.59 points.

Optics and computer hardware stocks led the gains in early trading. Q Tech (01478) rose 2.49%, SUNNY OPTICAL (02382) climbed 2.38%, and LENOVO GROUP (00992) advanced 2.24%. In the pharmaceutical e-commerce sector, JD HEALTH (06618) jumped 2.87%, while SBP GROUP (01177) added 1.48%. Dairy stocks also performed well, with MENGNIU DAIRY (02319) rising 2.17%.

Utility shares saw modest gains, as CLP HOLDINGS (00002) climbed 2.02% and HK & CHINA GAS (00003) advanced 1.34%. Gold and jewelry stocks were buoyant, with LAOPU GOLD (06181) adding 1.12% and CHOW TAI FOOK (01929) rising 2.34%.

Among Hang Seng Index constituents, CATL (03750) slipped 2.03%, marking one of the session's notable decliners. Internet stocks opened largely flat, with TENCENT (00700), XIAOMI-W (01810), and KUAISHOU-W (01024) all starting the day unchanged.

Overnight, all three major US indices closed lower, as the 10-year Treasury yield briefly touched the 5% mark during trading. International oil prices moved higher in response to the macroeconomic backdrop.
