A federal trade agency in the United States announced on Wednesday that it has initiated an investigation into Samsung Electronics, Apple, and Alphabet regarding potential patent infringements tied to specific audio technology devices.

The US International Trade Commission (ITC) disclosed the probe on its official website, following a complaint lodged last month by BoomCloud 360, a California-based firm.

BoomCloud 360 alleges that these tech behemoths have adopted certain audio technologies that violate three patent claims held by the complainant. The American company is seeking an order from the ITC to block the importation of the involved products, as well as to halt their sale and distribution within US borders.

Samsung, Apple, and Alphabet are required to respond to the complaint within 20 days of receiving the investigation notice.
