According to media reports, JPMorgan has appointed Mark Fiteny and Matt Gehl as co-heads of its international technology investment banking division, a move confirmed by a bank spokesperson.
Both Fiteny and Gehl bring more than two decades of industry experience to their new roles, where they will jointly serve the bank's global technology clients. An internal memo reveals that Fiteny previously led technology, media and telecom (TMT) and new economy investment banking in the Asia-Pacific region, while Gehl served as head of technology investment banking for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). The two senior bankers have now seen their existing technology banking management responsibilities expanded.
Fiteny will remain based in Hong Kong, and Gehl will continue to be stationed in London, ensuring the international technology banking leadership spans two of the world's core financial and technology markets. Concurrently, JPMorgan has also made personnel adjustments within its EMEA technology banking division.
Pieter Himpe, who currently oversees internet and technology services for the bank's EMEA technology banking unit, has been named co-head of EMEA technology investment banking. He will lead the region's operations alongside veteran banker Bill Hutchings. This restructuring maintains the existing management responsibilities in the Asia-Pacific and European regions while establishing a more comprehensive senior leadership structure for international technology investment banking.
Under the new arrangement, Fiteny and Gehl will manage global technology clients, while Himpe and Hutchings will oversee all technology investment banking activities across the EMEA region.
