Shares of the leveraged product tracking Samsung Electronics moved sharply higher, climbing more than 4% during morning trading. The instrument, Southern 2x Leveraged Samsung Electronics (07747), was last seen up 4.3% at HK$81.12, with turnover reaching HK$165 million.
According to market reports, Samsung's Taylor, Texas facility is scheduled to begin trial production at the end of this month. Notably, all planned output from the fab has reportedly already been fully committed by customers, giving the plant a clear runway to operate at full capacity from its earliest days of operation.
This strong pre-production demand is being driven by substantial orders flowing in from major technology players, including Tesla and Broadcom, among others. The Taylor site serves as the core hub for Samsung's 2-nanometer chip manufacturing process, positioning the company to compete more directly with TSMC in the advanced foundry space.
In preparation for continued expansion, Samsung is also bringing in equipment from its domestic partners in Korea to support construction of a second wafer fab at the Texas site, which is slated to break ground before the end of this year. The successful ramp-up of the Taylor fab represents a key milestone in Samsung's broader strategy to challenge TSMC's dominance in cutting-edge semiconductor production.
