Robotic Coffee Makers Depart for Hong Kong Exhibition Facilitated by Jiangmen Customs

A batch of robotic coffee machines recently departed from Jiangmen Hi-Tech Port under the supervision of Waihai Customs, a branch of Jiangmen Customs, heading to Hong Kong for a trade show. This marks the first temporarily exported exhibition cargo cleared under an ATA Carnet within the Jiangmen Customs district this year.

"The robotic coffee machine is our flagship product for the Hong Kong exhibition. The ATA Carnet offers the convenience of exemption from customs declarations and tax guarantees, effectively lowering our exhibition costs. Through the Hong Kong international exhibition platform, we can present our innovative achievements to global buyers and accelerate our brand's international expansion," stated a company representative.

Often referred to as a "passport for goods," the ATA Carnet is an international customs document established by the World Customs Organization for the temporary admission of goods. With this document, enterprises can bypass the need for repeated import and export declarations and tax guarantees, significantly reducing clearance costs. This is particularly advantageous for small and medium-sized enterprises with limited capital and little experience in overseas exhibitions.

The exported robotic coffee machines are independently developed by a local Jiangmen enterprise. These products address common industry challenges such as high labor costs and inconsistent quality, support multiple languages and local payment methods, and boast a strong competitive edge in the international market.

To ensure the successful export and exhibition of these goods, Jiangmen Customs adopted a proactive and precise service approach. They coordinated with the enterprise's exhibition plans in advance, organized specialized business consultations, and formulated the "Working Procedures for the Supervision of Temporarily Imported and Exported Goods under ATA Carnets." This involved systematically reviewing key aspects such as document verification, logistics coordination, and on-site supervision to resolve potential bottlenecks.

Zhong Wenhui, Deputy Director of Waihai Customs under Jiangmen Customs, explained: "We have streamlined communication channels with businesses, guiding them to standardize their documentation and effectively reducing processing times. By integrating the 'inspect before loading' model for consolidated cargo, we minimized redundant handling of goods. Additionally, we utilized a smart logistics monitoring platform for real-time tracking of warehouse movements and efficiently allocated supervisory resources. We also require enterprises to adhere to re-export timelines and maintain clear records, achieving faster clearance through intelligent supervision."

Currently, the exhibition economy's synergistic effects within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area are continuously strengthening. Hong Kong and Macau's international exhibition hubs have become vital channels for local Jiangmen businesses to access global markets and explore new frontiers.

Looking ahead, Jiangmen Customs will continue focusing on the exhibition needs of local small and medium-sized enterprises. Plans include intensifying promotional efforts for ATA Carnet policies, optimizing clearance services for temporarily imported and exported goods, and refining support measures throughout the entire process. These steps aim to further integrate into the Greater Bay Area's high-level opening-up framework, helping more businesses expand into overseas markets.
