Government Implements Emergency Price Controls on Fuel Amid Surging Oil Costs

Since the domestic fuel price adjustment on August 28, the renewed escalation of the US-Iran conflict has driven a sustained and sharp increase in international crude oil prices. To cushion the domestic market from these rising global costs, authorities have introduced temporary control measures on fuel prices while maintaining the existing pricing mechanism framework. According to calculations under the current pricing system, on September 11, domestic gasoline and diesel (standard products) prices should have risen by 435 yuan and 420 yuan per tonne, respectively; however, after the intervention, the actual increases were set at 260 yuan and 250 yuan per tonne.

A detailed list of maximum retail prices for gasoline and diesel in various provinces, regions, and key cities is attached. Additionally, as announced in a notice from the Shandong Provincial Development and Reform Commission on its official website, effective from 24:00 on September 11, 2026, the province's maximum wholesale and retail prices for gasoline and diesel will each rise by 260 yuan and 250 yuan per tonne. The adjusted maximum wholesale and retail prices for all grades of gasoline and diesel in Shandong, along with related details, are provided in the accompanying appendix.
