Where to Begin
In recent years, the city has actively advanced its national intellectual property demonstration county initiatives, precisely targeting corporate innovation requirements. By the close of 2025, the city has accumulated five China Patent Awards, 22 provincial and municipal-level patent awards from Jiangsu and Suzhou, and hosts 19 national IP advantage enterprises. With 10,169 valid invention patents and 120.06 invention patents per 10,000 residents, the region has also established the province's first county-level overseas IP protection workstation and secured approval for one of Suzhou's first batch of China National Intellectual Property Administration patent office Suzhou branch Taicang workstations.
These achievements have earned the city designation as a national IP strong county construction demonstration site and a Jiangsu provincial IP construction demonstration county, maintaining a spot in the top ten of China's county-level IP competitiveness rankings for three consecutive years.
Why This Distinction Matters
Intellectual property represents not only the fruits of technological innovation but also essential capital for enterprise growth. Taicang has taken proactive steps to innovate financial service models for intellectual property, offering small and medium-sized enterprises convenient and low-cost financing channels through methods such as IP pledge financing. During the first eight months of this year, the city completed 114 IP pledge financing projects, generating 1.748 billion yuan in financing, effectively transforming innovative advantages into development momentum.
Moving forward, the city will continue to strengthen its full-chain intellectual property services, precisely aligning with industrial chain demands in key sectors such as biomedicine. By constructing an integrated online and offline service system, Taicang aims to facilitate the transformation and application of more innovative achievements, injecting robust momentum into high-quality development.
