As a key livelihood initiative in Tunliu District, the new Southern City School project has accelerated its construction pace. At the site, workers are currently polishing the solar panel bases, with the facility slated to welcome students in the fall of 2027.

The project will add over 2,500 high-quality primary and secondary school places, directly addressing the growing enrollment pressure in the area. In recent years, the southern part of the district has seen a steady rise in residential population, leading to a surge in school-age children. This demographic shift has strained existing school capacity, creating challenges such as long commutes for students and inconvenient drop-offs for parents.

To close this educational gap and respond to public needs, the district government is advancing the Southern City School with high standards, aiming to deliver a top-tier learning environment right at residents’ doorsteps. A standout feature of the new campus is its commitment to green, low-carbon design. The rooftop will be outfitted with 1,453 solar photovoltaic panels, totaling 600 kilowatts of capacity, enough to cover most of the school’s daily electricity needs once operational.

The campus layout is thoughtfully organized, with distinct teaching and sports zones. The primary and secondary school buildings, along with a comprehensive services block, are neatly arranged, equipped with various functional rooms, offices, and support facilities. A library and a multi-purpose lecture hall will cater to reading, learning, and event needs, while standard indoor and outdoor sports venues—including a running track and ball courts—ensure students can engage in physical activities year-round.

“The overall project is 70% complete, with all structural and masonry work finished. We’re now focusing on rooftop photovoltaic bases, pipe installation, and external utility connections,” said the on-site project manager. Emphasizing quality and safety, the team employs a ‘model-first’ approach, full-time supervision, and closed-loop rectification to guarantee high-standard delivery.

Once completed, the Southern City School will not only ease the pressure on nearby schools but also ensure local children can attend classes close to home, significantly boosting community satisfaction through improved educational access.
