Alipay Launches 'Agent Emergence Award' with 10 Million Yuan Annual Fund, Open to Non-Coders

On September 10, Alipay officially announced the creation of the "Agent Emergence Award," backed by a 10 million yuan annual development fund, with a top prize of 1 million yuan for the yearly winner. Starting today, users can swipe right within the Alipay app or tap the bottom-right corner to access the feature, then say "Agent Emergence Award" to A Bao to get details and register for the competition.

The award spans two phases: quarterly selections and an annual contest. Initial shortlisted entries will receive a phased reward worth 5,000 yuan, while the annual grand prize stands at 1 million yuan, expected to be announced in the fourth quarter of 2027. Beyond cash incentives, certain market-ready applications may gain access to A Bao, enabling them to serve Alipay's 1 billion users and sustain ongoing operations.

Participants do not need coding skills, and there are no restrictions on development tools. They can leverage various VibeCoding platforms (such as Qmuse) to generate agents or applications through direct conversation, submitting publicly accessible URLs for entry. Developers with technical capabilities can also choose to build and debug locally, using CLI commands to submit their work in one step. Merchant developers, meanwhile, can select development methods as needed through the Alipay AI Open Platform.

Regular users can also join by making a "wish," stating a real and worthwhile need that developers might bring to life. Those whose ideas are selected as quarterly "golden ideas" can earn 2,000 yuan in cash rewards. Two primary directions guide the initiative, both focused on everyday scenarios: "Life Assistants" targets individual developers, encouraging them to deliver compact yet polished smart services tailored to user needs. "New Consumption Experiences" targets merchants and institutional developers, urging them to upgrade intelligent services based on business contexts, offering more imaginative consumer interactions.
