HSBC Private Bank has recently announced the recruitment of two senior executives from Citi Private Bank to lead its ultra-high-net-worth and family office divisions. According to an HSBC announcement, Hannes Hofmann will join on September 10th as the newly created Global Head of Family Offices, based in London, while Cayman Wills will start on September 22nd as Head of US Private Banking, based in New York.

In his new role, Hofmann will be responsible for overseeing the bank's global family office solutions. With over 25 years of experience in global private banking, he departed Citi at the end of 2025, where he served as the head of the global family office team. This move reunites him with HSBC Private Bank CEO Ida Liu, who previously led Citi's private banking operations as well. Prior to his tenure at Citi, Hofmann spent around two decades at J.P. Morgan Private Bank, serving high-net-worth clients across the US, Latin America, and Asia.

Wills also brings more than a decade of experience from J.P. Morgan, where, according to her LinkedIn profile, she held roles as Global Head of Equity Trading and Head of US Equity Derivatives. She joined Citi in 2022, managing the ultra-high-net-worth client business in the Northeastern United States.

Both new appointees will report to Liu, with Wills additionally reporting to Racquel Oden, Head of US International Wealth Management, Premier Banking, and Private Banking. In her statement, Liu noted that these new appointments will help HSBC deepen its business relationships with the world's wealthiest families.
