Concord New Energy (00182) jumped more than 9% in late trading on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. The stock was last up 7.58% at HK$0.355, with turnover reaching HK$5.995 million. The surge comes as investors took note of the company's strategic pivot toward international markets and data center-related energy solutions.

The company had earlier posted its interim results, showing total revenue of approximately HK$1.258 billion for the first half, with gross profit around HK$584 million and net profit attributable to shareholders of about HK$100 million. Management highlighted the group's foresight in capitalizing on the enormous electricity demand generated by the rapid global growth in AI investment, having proactively positioned itself in regions such as the United States, Southeast Asia, and Eastern Europe for AIDC development and integrated energy solutions. These initiatives are reportedly progressing smoothly.

Guoyuan International issued a research note stating that the investment thesis for Concord New Energy is transitioning from a purely domestic wind and solar operator into a multi-engine growth model combining domestic operational assets, long-term overseas PPA agreements, and US data center business development. With overseas PPA contracts and a US project pipeline exceeding 4GW, alongside data center development, the brokerage believes these factors will unlock new growth opportunities over the next 2-3 years.
