Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL) has pushed back against a viral social media post that alleged a team leader at its Yibin facility restricted workers from using restrooms, leading to an extreme reaction from an employee. A company representative said the claim is a malicious fabrication and that the footage circulating online does not depict their operations.
The rumor began on September 9th when a user posted a video online alleging that a shift supervisor at CATL's Yibin base prohibited general workers from taking bathroom breaks, triggering what was described as irrational behavior from an employee. The post quickly gained traction across Chinese social media platforms.
In response to inquiries, a senior official from CATL stated that the video is unrelated to the company and constitutes an act of slander. The representative emphasized that all of the company's facilities, including the Yibin site, provide designated smoking areas for staff and impose no restrictions on restroom access.
The company has formally reported the matter to local police authorities, who are now investigating the source of the misleading content. CATL reiterated its commitment to maintaining a fair and humane working environment for all employees and will pursue legal action against those responsible for spreading false information.
