Shanghai Electric Group's Party Secretary and Chairman, Wu Lei, recently led a delegation to the Chinese Embassy in the UK, holding talks with Deputy Ambassador Yu Benlin. The discussions covered topics including the state of Sino-British economic and trade cooperation, the UK's clean energy market environment, and synergies in the new energy industry. Yu Benlin praised Shanghai Electric for its long-term commitment to the UK market and its positive contributions to advancing energy cooperation between the two countries.

Yu noted that Sino-British relations continue to progress steadily within the framework of a comprehensive strategic partnership, with vast potential and promising prospects for bilateral trade. He highlighted the strong complementarity between the two nations' energy industries, adding that green, low-carbon transition is a shared development priority. The embassy, he said, will continue to support Chinese enterprises operating in the UK, encouraging Shanghai Electric to leverage its comprehensive strengths to deliver more high-quality clean energy projects in Britain. The embassy will also serve as a bridge for government-business communication and trade facilitation, fostering deeper cooperation in energy equipment and green technology between the two countries.

Wu Lei expressed gratitude for the embassy's ongoing guidance and support for Shanghai Electric's overseas growth, and outlined the group's current business footprint in the UK and its future collaboration plans. He said the UK is a frontrunner in Europe's green energy transition, presenting significant market opportunities. Shanghai Electric aims to build on its proprietary technology and full industrial chain capabilities to deepen its presence in the UK's new energy sector, scaling existing flagship projects toward larger, serialized operations while introducing more domestically produced high-end energy equipment and green innovations to the British market. He also sought the embassy's continued support in helping the company align with UK-specific policy frameworks and efficiently implement various projects.

Following the embassy meeting, Wu Lei's team also engaged with officials from the UK's Department for Business and Trade and the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero. The discussions focused on Shanghai Electric's full-chain advantages, technological innovations, and benchmark projects in the industry. Both sides agreed that the UK's carbon neutrality strategy and Shanghai Electric's development roadmap are highly complementary. They resolved to establish a regular communication mechanism to address the UK's local energy transition needs through tailored R&D and project collaboration, jointly developing integrated energy solutions suited to regional conditions. This, they said, would support the area's green and low-carbon transformation while achieving mutual benefit and shared growth.

Also attending the meetings were Shanghai Electric Party Committee members and Vice Presidents Jin Xiaolong and Jia Tinggang, Chief Operating Officer Qiao Yinping, and other relevant personnel.
