Cyberport has expressed strong support for Chief Executive John Lee's announcement today (September 16) of the First Five-Year Plan for Hong Kong's Economic and Social Development (2026-2030) and the 2026 Policy Address. These documents outline a clear roadmap for the city's innovation and technology growth, demonstrating the government's proactive alignment with the national 15th Five-Year Plan.

As a leading digital technology hub, artificial intelligence accelerator, and national-level tech business incubator, Cyberport says it will fully cooperate with government policies to leverage its innovation ecosystem strengths. The organization is committed to fostering new productive forces and assisting Hong Kong in its journey to become an international innovation and technology center.

Simon Chan, Chairman of Cyberport, noted that the Chief Executive's first Five-Year Plan actively aligns with the national strategic development blueprint, charting a clear course for the city's high-quality growth over the next half-decade. The Policy Address introduces concrete measures to strengthen frontier research, accelerate technology transfer, and boost industrial advancement, which together inject fresh momentum into Hong Kong's tech sector.

As one of the three major innovation parks, Cyberport will devote itself to establishing the new structure of "three innovation parks and five research institutions." It will focus on its role as a southern digital technology flagship and AI accelerator, concentrating on key areas including artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, blockchain, and financial technology.

The organization will continue to strengthen the position of enterprises as innovation drivers, promoting deep integration of industry, academia, and research. Cyberport plans to facilitate collaboration across the innovation value chain, accelerating the transformation and commercialization of research achievements, and bridging the critical gap from development and testing to application and market launch.

With completion of Phase 5 expansion, Cyberport will provide more advanced infrastructure and ample development space to attract innovative enterprises and research talent. The new dedicated sustainable data center will further enhance the ecosystem's capacity.

Chan emphasized that Cyberport will maintain its distinctive roles as a "super connector," "super value-adder," and "super converter," enabling efficient linkages among technology, talent, capital, data, and application scenarios. By establishing a two-way development platform for mainland and overseas enterprises, Cyberport aims to help Hong Kong basically establish an international innovation and technology center by 2030, one rooted in the Greater Bay Area yet radiating across the nation and connecting globally. The organization remains dedicated to contributing to national high-quality development through technological innovation, serving the country's needs with Hong Kong's strengths.
