Today's Focus: The newly released second edition of the "Guidelines for the Assessment, Treatment, and Prevention of Childhood Obesity in China" marks a significant shift in approach. The updated framework no longer relies solely on Body Mass Index (BMI) as the primary metric for evaluating pediatric obesity. Instead, it promotes a layered and categorized screening and assessment model, moving away from a "one-size-fits-all" weight reduction strategy.



In regulatory developments, the State Administration for Market Regulation, in conjunction with the Ministry of Civil Affairs, has issued two mandatory national standards. These standards outline 90 specific requirements across seven dimensions, including site selection, building design, facilities, and equipment for elderly care institutions. The All-China Federation of Trade Unions has issued a notice confirming plans to support the establishment of 600 national model worker and craftsman innovation studios in 2026, with each studio receiving a subsidy of 100,000 yuan. On September 5, authorities in Yuzhong County, Lanzhou, Gansu Province, responded to online reports regarding the dyeing of lettuce during the purchasing process. It was confirmed that six enterprises had illegally used green food coloring additives, and legal proceedings have been initiated against them.
