A key U.S. consumer price gauge for August came in hotter than anticipated, stoking concerns that the Federal Reserve could be compelled to raise interest rates again this year.

U.S. equity futures dipped in the initial reaction but later clawed back to previous levels. As of 8:34 a.m. in New York, S&P 500 futures were up 0.6%, roughly reverting to their pre-report position, while Nasdaq 100 futures gained 0.7%, after having earlier advanced by nearly 0.8%.
