Citigroup has announced the immediate appointment of Yik Ping Chong as the head of its Commercial Bank (CCB) in Malaysia, according to reports.
In her new role, Chong will spearhead the strategic direction and business expansion of Citigroup's commercial banking arm in Malaysia, with a focus on broadening the mid-cap client segment while reinforcing existing customer relationships. She will also oversee the division's growth initiatives, risk management framework, corporate governance, and internal control mechanisms.
Chong will report directly to Gunjan Kalra, Head of Commercial Banking for Japan, North Asia, Australia (JANA), and South Asia, while also maintaining a matrix reporting line to Vikram Singh, Citigroup's Malaysia Country Officer and Banking Head.
Bringing over 26 years of extensive experience across both commercial and retail banking sectors, Chong previously served as the Head of Digital, Technology, and Communications for Citigroup's Commercial Bank in Malaysia. In that capacity, she was instrumental in driving the bank's portfolio growth within digital startups, technology firms, and the semiconductor industry. She also collaborated closely with Citigroup's investment banking division to help clients secure growth capital.
