An intensive intellectual property (IP) training session, themed “Intellectual Property Protection for Innovation,” was held on May 28 at the 9th Academy of the Smart Manufacturing Management Office in Nanjing Jiangbei New Area. The event aimed to strengthen IP protection awareness among park enterprises, enhance their capabilities in patent risk prevention and legal response, and support the high-quality development of the local industry.
During the session, expert Zhu Lei from the Jiangsu Center of the Patent Examination Cooperation Center of the China National Intellectual Property Administration delivered a lecture on “Patent Infringement Determination Methods and Typical Cases.” He systematically explained legal judgment principles such as full coverage and the doctrine of equivalents, dissected the logic of infringement comparison using judicial examples, and provided practical strategies for enterprises to avoid infringement risks and defend against lawsuits. The presentation was highly instructive and operational.
In another keynote, Fu Qiguo, Director of the Nanjing Intellectual Property Protection Center, focused on patent reexamination and invalidation procedures as well as expedited rights confirmation services. He detailed the priority review process for rapid patent protection, multi-mode trial rules, and applications of remote and joint hearings, helping enterprises refine the layout of high-value patents, shorten the timeline for rights confirmation and enforcement, and elevate their overall IP operation and protection standards.
On the same day, a comic exhibition on IP protection was also held throughout the park. Featuring original theme comics, the exhibition illustrated patent laws and general protection knowledge in an accessible and engaging manner, combining graphics and text to make complex topics easy to understand.
IP serves as a vital safeguard for technological innovation and underpins the transformation and upgrading of the smart manufacturing sector. This intensive empowerment activity closely addressed the operational pain points and development needs of local enterprises, effectively filling gaps in their professional IP knowledge while creating a platform for government-enterprise communication and specialized capacity building.
Looking ahead, the Smart Manufacturing Management Office plans to continue collaborating with various stakeholders to regularly organize IP training, science communication, and rights protection assistance services. These efforts aim to further improve the park’s IP service system, encourage enterprises to strengthen their awareness as innovation leaders, enhance patent portfolio strategies, and bolster risk prevention capabilities, ultimately injecting sustained momentum into the high-quality growth of the smart manufacturing industry in Jiangbei New Area.
