Prudential plc trims share count with S$12 million buyback

Prudential plc has reported a reduction in its issued share capital after purchasing and cancelling ordinary shares on Sep, 03 2026.

The insurer repurchased a total of 671,954 ordinary shares on the London Stock Exchange at prices ranging between GBP 10.105 and GBP 10.32 per share. The buybacks were executed in two tranches: 384,130 shares under the mandate approved at the May, 14 2025 annual general meeting and 287,824 shares under the renewed authority granted on May, 28 2026.

The aggregate consideration for these transactions was approximately 6.87 million pounds, equivalent to about 12 million Singapore dollars. All repurchased shares are earmarked for cancellation; 387,822 shares were cancelled on Sep, 03 2026, reducing Prudential’s outstanding share count to 2,494,807,825. The remaining 671,954 repurchased shares are pending cancellation.

Under its existing mandates, Prudential is authorised to buy back up to 262.67 million shares (2025 mandate) and 252.81 million shares (2026 mandate). To date, it has repurchased 118.14 million and 0.54 million shares under the respective mandates.

In line with Hong Kong Stock Exchange rules, Prudential is restricted from issuing new shares or selling treasury shares until Oct, 03 2026.
