China New Higher Education Group Limited announced the appointment of Dr. He Guojun as an independent non-executive director (INED) with effect from 8 September 2026. Concurrently, Dr. He will join the audit, remuneration and nomination committees and chair the Board’s newly established sustainability committee.

Dr. He, aged 42, holds a Ph.D. in Agricultural and Resource Economics from the University of California, Berkeley, and is currently Hong Kong Jockey Club Professor in Economics at The University of Hong Kong. His research focuses on environmental, development and governance economics, with publications in leading journals such as the Quarterly Journal of Economics and the American Economic Review.

Remuneration is set at HK$0.30 million per annum under an initial one-year appointment, subject to retirement by rotation and re-election in accordance with the company’s articles of association. The compensation package was recommended by the remuneration committee and benchmarked against market norms for comparable roles.

Dr. He has confirmed his independence under Rule 3.13 of the HKEX Listing Rules and holds no shares or underlying shares of the company. He has no prior executive or directorial roles within the group and no relationships with existing directors, senior management, substantial shareholders or controlling shareholders.

Following the appointment, China New Higher Education’s Board comprises three executive directors—Li Xiaoxuan, Zhao Shuai and Chan Tung Hoi—and four independent non-executive directors: Kwong Wai Sun Wilson, Dr. Pang Tsz Kit Peter, Wong Ka Ki Ada and Dr. He Guojun.
