Founded in 1956, Dorbod Mongolian Autonomous County began its historic journey of ethnic regional autonomy on the vast grasslands. Over the past seven decades, a succession of welfare projects has been launched, major livelihood issues have been addressed one after another, and a vivid tapestry of improvements to people's lives has unfolded across the county.

A mobile hospital on wheels is bringing healthcare directly to villagers' doorsteps. Early morning in Nangang Village, soft sunlight filters through lush trees onto the expectant faces of residents, who gaze with excitement at the "Ulaan Otch" mobile medical vehicle from Daqing Mongolian Medicine Hospital as it pulls into the village party-mass service center. The vehicle's name means "Red Famous Doctor" in Mongolian. With the county's most remote township roughly 100 kilometers from the county seat, many elderly residents, chronic disease patients, and those with limited mobility have long struggled to access medical care. To deliver quality healthcare resources to the grassroots, the county invested 3.9 million yuan to build this vehicle, equipped with China Unicom's 5G network – the province's first mobile medical device integrating full-process diagnostic functions including CT scans, electrocardiography, ultrasound, routine blood and urine tests, and comprehensive biochemistry analysis, effectively resolving the challenge of medical access for residents in remote villages. Yao Shengfu, a villager from Boboli Village in Hujitumode Township, said happily: "When the mobile clinic arrives, it has such complete equipment and very kind medical staff. It feels like a dream – I no longer worry about seeing a doctor." One vehicle serves as a "mobile hospital," and a single road connects to the people's livelihood expectations. This innovative practice deepens the county's compact county-level medical community construction and stands as a vivid testament to measuring development height with the warmth of people's livelihoods. Since officially commencing operations in February this year, the mobile medical team has dispatched more than 360 expert visits, covering 11 townships, 3 farms and enterprises, and 37 administrative villages across the county, providing comprehensive health checkups for over 1,100 residents and completing nearly 2,000 disease screenings. Since the start of the 14th Five-Year Plan period, the county has made significant strides in healthcare: 10.64 million yuan in special funds has been used to equip county-level hospitals with medical treatment and fever clinic facilities as well as negative-pressure ambulances; 6.58 million yuan has been invested in renovating community health service centers and equipping grassroots facilities with over 130 sets of medical devices; 1.21 million yuan has been allocated to procure 9 emergency transport vehicles for township health centers and community health service stations, achieving full coverage at the grassroots level. The county people's hospital's catheterization laboratory and operating rooms are now operational, and its intensive care unit has opened, marking a significant advancement in the county's comprehensive treatment capabilities.

Residents can now enjoy greenery just by opening their windows, and no longer need to "watch the sea" on rainy days. On a sweltering summer day, 59-year-old Wang Jingjun from Xingfu Village in Dorbod Town was busy clearing loose soil from the road surface in front of his home on Erdao Street, making sure not to block the rainwater collection inlet. He explained: "This area used to have potholed roads, and whenever it rained heavily, water would accumulate so deep that even my children couldn't get home. Now, with the asphalt pavement, streetlights, and drainage system in place, we no longer have to 'watch the sea' after heavy rain." The county government aligns its policies with the people's aspirations. Che Haiyang, deputy director of Dorbod County's Urban Management Bureau, noted that in 2025, the county will invest over 60 million yuan to advance the Tiedong District flood control and drainage project, constructing 6.8 kilometers of new rainwater pipelines, 3 pumping stations, and repairing over 30,000 square meters of damaged road surfaces, permanently solving the problem of waterlogging during rainy seasons. To improve the urban and rural environment, the county has also adopted meticulous "sewing" techniques, filling every available space with greenery and opening up walled areas to reveal gardens. During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, cumulative investments exceeding 2.9 million yuan were made to plant 360,000 trees and shrubs and 1.27 million flowers along main and secondary roads, parks, and squares, while maintaining 4.5 million square meters of green space and creating landscape features across 2.8 million square meters, adding 211,400 square meters of new park green space. This year, per capita park green space in the county reached 17.94 square meters, and the service radius coverage rate of park greening activity areas increased to 88.64%, effectively meeting residents' leisure and fitness needs. With greenery visible from every window and parks accessible right outside their doors, the new prairie city now embodies greater warmth and vitality. Such achievements in people's livelihoods are evident throughout Dorbet's urban and rural construction: during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, the county renovated 52 old residential communities and 210 old buildings, promoted 4 shantytown renovation projects; constructed or upgraded 74.17 kilometers of urban water supply and drainage pipelines and 122.7 kilometers of heating pipelines; concentrated efforts on renovating 1,073 rural dilapidated houses, ensuring villagers live in "safe homes"; allocated 440 million yuan to improve the rural transportation network, building 52.3 kilometers of rural roads and renovating 3 dangerous bridges; completed the 38.5-kilometer expansion of the National Highway from Yakeshi to Siping, specifically the Daqi-Jie to Dorbet section; and implemented 110 rural water supply projects with 851,700 meters of pipelines, benefiting 148,000 people. Laughter echoes from low-rent housing units, and graceful dance moves animate community squares. In recent years, as one livelihood project after another has been completed and delivered, the county's vision of "enriching urban connotation and enhancing quality of life" has become a reality.

Everyone has a stage, and cultural and sports activities flourish during the summer evenings. At the county cultural and sports square, ethnic dance performances are fluid and graceful, while the sound of the morin khuur, a traditional Mongolian horse-head fiddle, resonates deeply. The Ulanmuqir troupe from the Dorbet Ethnic Song and Dance Heritage Center performed impromptu performances as men, women, young, and old spontaneously gathered, immersing themselves in the unique charm of ethnic minority arts. Resident Mr. Liu commented: "The 'Prairie Love Song Concert' held at the county's first football stadium on May 20 was even more thrilling. The event set up a song request booth, offering classic tunes like 'Prairie, Please Come,' where visitors and locals could request songs for free with professional accompaniment. It was a truly wonderful experience." To bring cultural benefits directly to the people's hearts, the county, relying on its ethnic song and dance heritage center, cultural center, and various arts groups, has actively formed "Dandelion" teams that go deep into villages, communities, schools, and enterprises, conducting nearly a thousand cultural benefit activities each year, including "delivering culture to the grassroots" and "three-district" talent arts guidance. Chang Yubo, head of the cultural station in Hujitumode Township, said: "Staff from the county cultural center go to villages based on demand to provide on-site guidance on Mongolian dance. The masses request what they need, and they receive professional instruction right at their doorstep." Currently, the county boasts over 80 cultural and sports groups, including gateball associations and the Sunset Red Art Troupe, with nearly 10,000 cultural and sports activists. Each year, nearly 100 branded cultural and sports events are held, such as gateball invitational tournaments, table tennis competitions, and the "Passionate Summer" series. The county's square dance competition grows more popular each year; this year, 30 teams with over 900 arts enthusiasts competed, seamlessly blending traditional Mongolian dance with modern square dance, fully showcasing the new-era prairie people's spirit of unity, hard work, love of life, and optimism. Ai Liya, director of the Dorbet County Culture, Sports, Radio, Television and Tourism Bureau, stated that since 2021, the county has secured 2.4 million yuan in central budget funds to build an 11-a-side public football stadium; secured 1.1 million yuan in special funds to construct or renovate 4 village-level cultural service centers and sports squares; and installed 54 new fitness path sets. Currently, all 4 venues and the newly built football stadium are open to the public free of charge, with per capita venue area exceeding the provincial average. All 11 townships have provincial-standard cultural activity stations, and village-level cultural and sports squares and activity centers have achieved full coverage. These figures and measures attest to the brilliant achievements in the development of people's livelihoods in Dorbet over the past 70 years. Today's Dorbet, with its beautiful urban-rural landscape, harmony, and civilization, sees people of all ethnicities enjoying a genuine sense of stable happiness.
