Heads Up for Motorists: Fuel Prices Set to Climb Tomorrow Evening

Deep News
Yesterday

Attention all drivers—it's time to fill up your tanks now, as a significant fuel price hike is on the horizon. The 18th fuel price adjustment of the year will take effect at midnight on September 11th, with expectations of a sharp increase of nearly 0.30 yuan per liter.

Following the previous rise of over 0.29 yuan per liter, fuel prices in 2026 have now increased a total of 11 times, compared to just 5 decreases. Over the first eight months of this year, prices have already surged by more than 1.32 yuan per liter. This upward trend is set to continue, as international crude oil prices jumped over 3.25% at the close of trading this morning, further boosting today's anticipated increase.

Driven by the continued strength in global oil markets, the crude oil change rate has now reached 5.89%. Projections indicate an upward adjustment of 330 yuan per ton, which translates to an expected rise of 0.25 yuan to 0.30 yuan per liter for both gasoline and diesel prices tomorrow evening. With less than 48 hours until the price increase takes effect, September 12th will bring the new, higher prices to the pumps.

Once tomorrow's adjustment is implemented, 95-octane gasoline is poised to approach the "9 yuan era." Currently, after the last increase, 95-octane fuel is already priced at 8.60 yuan per liter in most regions. With the additional rise of nearly 0.30 yuan per liter, prices will inch closer to that significant threshold by the day after tomorrow.

Note: The increase mentioned above is a forecast based on institutional calculations. The final adjustment will be subject to official announcements.
