Fed's Updated Projections Align with Market Expectations for This Year

The Federal Reserve has raised interest rates by 25 basis points as widely anticipated, with officials signaling one more increase within the year.

The newly released "dot plot" indicates that Fed policymakers project an additional rate hike in 2026, which is in line with market forecasts. While the median projection still implies less tightening by the end of 2027 compared to what traders are pricing in, the current more hawkish stance suggests that a majority of officials now agree that the prevailing macroeconomic environment warrants further policy tightening.
