The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the National Development and Reform Commission have jointly released the "15th Five-Year Plan for the Development of the Electronic Information Manufacturing Industry." The plan projects that by 2030, China's electronic information manufacturing sector will wield significant influence in the global industrial landscape, with revenue for enterprises above a designated size surpassing 30 trillion yuan.
The initiative aims to cultivate a cadre of long-board technologies and products in areas such as integrated circuits, advanced computing, consumer electronics, foundational electronics, and energy electronics, ultimately fostering globally competitive, world-class enterprises. The industry's research and development investment intensity is targeted to reach 3.5%.
Experts highlight that the electronic information manufacturing industry is a crucial material foundation for artificial intelligence and the primary battleground for its industrialization. The rapid evolution of AI is interwoven with innovations in chips, complete machines, terminals, and manufacturing processes, collectively driving profound transformations in the sector's growth momentum, product architecture, and production methods.
Li Hongwei, Chief Engineer at the China Center for Information Industry Development, noted that the deep integration of AI technology with vertical domains is promoting the widespread application of consumer electronics in sectors such as medical health, home-based elderly care, and education and training. AI will further accelerate the cross-sector integration of consumer electronics, unlocking the value of terminal products by discovering new application scenarios.
It is understood that China's electronic information manufacturing industry is characterized by its extensive scale, lengthy supply chain, active innovation, and high levels of marketization and internationalization. During the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, this sector ranked first among 41 industrial categories for 13 consecutive years, serving as a vital pillar in stabilizing the growth of the industrial economy.
