AstraZeneca (AZN) said Tuesday that tozorakimab demonstrated "statistically significant" efficacy in reducing moderate and severe COPD exacerbations in the Oberon and Titania phase 3 trials, with benefits across blood eosinophil levels.
Tozorakimab reduced COPD exacerbations by 29% in Oberon and 34% in Titania among former smokers, and by 30% and 29%, respectively, in the overall population versus placebo, the company said.
Pooled results showed tozorakimab reduced exacerbations by 43% in patients with blood eosinophil counts of at least 300 cells/uL, 34% in those with at least 150, and 23% in those below 150.
The US Food and Drug Administration accepted AstraZeneca's biologics license application for tozorakimab under priority review, with a decision expected in Q1 2027, AstraZeneca said.
