Hong Kong Stocks Open Flat

Hong Kong stocks opened flat at the start of Wednesday's trading session, as investors turned cautious ahead of U.S. inflation data.

The Hang Seng Index opened marginally higher at 25,328.13. The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index barely moved into negative territory to open at 8,395.09.

U.S. producer price index and consumer price index data for August are due Thursday and Friday, respectively.

The inflation readings, alongside surging energy prices and recent U.S. jobs data, will influence the Federal Reserve's interest-rate decision next week.

Analysts have said that a stronger-than-expected inflation print could prompt the Fed to hike rates.
