Brooks Automation Holdings, a semiconductor automation company owned by private-equity firm Thomas H. Lee Partners, is planning a return to the public markets.
Brooks on Thursday said it has confidentially filed a draft registration statement with the Securities and Exchange Commission for a proposed initial public offering.
The Chelmsford, Mass., company said the number of shares it plans to offer and the price range for the proposed offering haven't yet been determined, adding that the offering is subject to market conditions.
The SEC's confidential IPO filing process lets regulators and companies engage in a back-and-forth dialogue about disclosures as they wrap up the paperwork.
Brooks Automation sold its semiconductor automation business, along with its name and brand, to Thomas H. Lee for $3 billion in 2022. The company's remaining life-sciences business now operates as Azenta.
