Euro Should Stabilize vs Dollar as Traders Digest ECB Remarks

0738 GMT - The euro is likely to stabilize against the dollar Friday, ING's Francesco Pesole says in a note. European Central Bank policymakers Gabriel Makhlouf, Ante Zigman and Olli Rehn sounded "broadly hawkish" on Thursday in favor of raising interest rates further, he says. However, they all said there was no evidence of second-round inflation effects. "Even so, we do not expect any shift in tone in the near term." ECB President Christine Lagarde speaks at 1400 GMT and is unlikely to add much to the message so soon after last week's decision to raise rates, he says. The euro trades flat at $1.1478.
