Taiwan's retail sales increased 6.5% year over year in August, according to data from the Ministry of Economic Affairs on Wednesday.
The reading eased from the 7.7% year-over-year expansion reported in the previous month.
Food, beverage, and tobacco retail sales jumped 13.1% year over year basis. Automobile and motorcycle retail sales grew 5.8%, while those of information and communications and home appliance retail sales increased 10.9%.
Total sales from January to August grew 4.9% on a year over year basis.
