Singapore's MAS Likely to Maintain Policy Stance Through Year-End

0816 GMT - The Monetary Authority of Singapore will likely maintain its policy stance through the end of the year, Goldman Sachs analysts say in a note. However, they note that the recent pickup in underlying inflation poses a risk to their policy call. It remains too early to conclude that this represents a sustained reacceleration, but it increases the likelihood that further tightening will be required, the analysts write. Goldman Sachs's estimates suggest that the current stance is already slightly restrictive, after MAS tightened policy pre-emptively in April and July, they note. Those moves should help contain underlying inflation pressures, they say.
